Abstract
EXPERIMENTS in our laboratory have shown that a change in the position and concentration of intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) in the jejunal mucosa is induced by absorption of oleic acid. To determine whether alkaline phosphatase and fatty acid absorption are causally related, we investigated the effect of an inhibitor of IAP, L-phenylalanine, on the rate of absorption of oleic acid (C18) in man.
