Effect of Ethinyl-Oestradiol on Some Neurohypophysial Active Compounds in the Rat

Abstract

THE radio-immunoassay (RIA) of neurophysin, using an antiserum directed against an antigenic fragment common to various neurophysins, has enabled us to show that this hypo-thalamo-neurohypophysial carrier of active hormones such as vasopressin or antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and oxytocin (Oxy) is released concomitantly with them in various animal species both in vitro1–2; and in vivo. It appeared therefore that RIA of neurophysin could be a useful tool to explore neurohypophysial activity directly.
