Protein Synthesis on Rat Liver Polysome-Membrane Complexes formed in vitro and Disposition of the Discharged Chains

Abstract

Rough membranes reconstituted by combination in vitro of hepatic polysomes and rough microsomes stripped of their-endogenous polysomes will incorporate amino-acids and vectorially transport the puromycin-released protein across the membrane. Both of these rough membrane activities were quantitatively similar to rough microsomes; however, the membrane binding sites appeared undiscriminatory in binding nearly all postmitochondrial polysomes with equal affinity.
