(a) PTHrP influences the proliferation of VSMCs (Song, G.J., Fiaschi-Taesch, N. & Bisello, A. Mol. Endocrinol.23, 1681-1680, 2009). Full-length PTHrP protein levels were increased, whereas PTHrP peptide levels were decreased, in MSCs and VSMCs from the patient harboring the T445N substitution. (b) Phosphorylation of VASP at Ser157 was reduced in VSMCs from the affected patients compared to controls; phosphorylated VASP was not detectable in MSCs.
