ER-α36 and resistance to tamoxifen

Overexpression of ER-α36 was associated with poor disease-free survival (DFS) and disease-specific survival in the first cohort, specifically in patients who had ER-α66-positive tumors and were treated with tamoxifen. In patients with ER-α66-positive tumors who were not treated with tamoxifen, expression of ER-α36 was not associated with survival nor was any such association found in patients with ER-α66-negative tumors.
