(a) RMSF for wild-type p53 and R248W mutant, the most common cancer mutation, are shown in black and red lines, respectively. The fluctuations in the mutant region are nearly identical to the wild-type protein, whereas strong perturbations are observed in the N- and C-terminal domains. (b and c) RMSF for two alternative Zn-binding models of R175H mutant are shown in green and purple lines. Again, the greatest changes in fluctuation between mutants and wild-type protein are in the N- and C-terminal domains.
