Abstract

THE preparation of intermetallic compounds free of other phases is difficult in many binary metallic systems because thermodynamic stability of the compound does not extend to the melting point. The study of such compounds and their suitability as coatings have thus been hampered. We report here a method for the preparation of Ag3Sn substantially free of second phases.
