Introduction:Fecal fat balance with chemical determination of fecal fat according to the method of van de Kamer is considered the gold standard for the diagnosis of fat malabsorption.Rapid and easier methods are:the acid steatocrit method and the near-infrared reflectance analysis (NIRA).

Aim of the study: to compare fecal fat concentration as measured by the van de Kamer, the NIRA and the acid steatocrit methods and evaluate the relationship of the results with fecal energy content.
