Abstract 1506 Poster Session II, Sunday, 5/2 (poster 51)

With the current nationwide movement toward universal newborn hearing screening, the issues related to program development have gained significance. The purpose of this study was to determine the best way to establish a cost-effective newborn hearing screening program that incorporated the use of trained, dedicated volunteers to perform routine screenings. The study was designed with plans to evaluate the factors that are most important to a successful program in a busy urban teaching hospital.
