The association between thymic weight index at birth and subsequent infections in term infants. Infants are grouped into categories with none or at least 1 episodes of parent reported infections in the first 3 mo of life. Thymic size is given as quartiles of thymic weight index at birth. Compared with children in the three lower quartiles of TI, the children in the highest quartile had a 75% decrease in risk of infections, P = 0.05.
