Expression of PCNA and p21 after intraluminal injury of the femoral artery. Right femoral arteries were harvested from mice two weeks after induction of intraluminal injury by insertion of a guide wire. PCNA (A) and p21 (B) were detected by immunofluorescence (red) as described in the methods section and nuclei were counter stained with DAPI (blue). Autofluorescence is shown in green. While the numbers of cells positive for PCNA were decreased, those expressing p21 were increased in arteries from Poldip2+/‒ vs. wild-type mice. Images are representative of sections from at least 3 animals of each genotype. Scale bars are 50 µm
