a A conventional papillary thyroid carcinoma with a sparse spindle cell proliferation with edematous stroma; b In some areas, the spindle cell proliferation adopted a vaguely storiform growth pattern; c Areas showed spindle and stellate cells with long cytoplasmic processes against an edematous background reminiscent of granulation tissue; d Other areas displayed abundant pools of stromal mucin.
