Model of ATT-induced gut dysbiosis and its impact on susceptibility to Mtb infection. Gut microbiota cross talk with lung immune cells is important for their effector functions against pulmonary pathogens such as Mtb. ATT alters the gut microbiota and compromises gut–lung communication, leading to alveolar macrophage dysfunction thereby impairing early host defense mechanisms and increasing susceptibility to Mtb infection
