Monocytes (a), MDLCs (b), or inner foreskin epidermal cell suspensions (c), were labeled for cell-surface expression of HSV-1/2 entry receptors and langerin. Matched isotype control Abs (broken lines) served as negative controls, and cells were examined by flow cytometry. Shown are representative flow cytometry overlays, with numbers representing mean ± SEM (n = 4–9, see Supplementary Fig. 2) percentages of positive cells out of total cells (a) or gated on langerin+ cells (b, c).
