The action of the drugs was confirmed by physiological measures. Heart rate and blood pressure decreased in all participants across the experiment, however, significantly more pronounced in the propranolol group, compared to the placebo group and the amisulpride group (A, B). The blink rate decreased after propranolol intake, but not after both placebo and amisulpride (C). A decrease of the pupil diameter was present in all groups with the strongest effect in the amisulpride group (D). Eye-tracking data were assessed at baseline (T1) and 90 min after the first pill intake (T2), change values reflect T2-T1. Plots show binned individual data, the width corresponds to the bin’s frequency (C, D); error bars represent the standard errors of the mean, *p < .05, **p < .01 for the post hoc t-tests between the groups.
