Main age and protein effects and age × protein interaction effect were determined by using mixed effects analysis. There was no effect of protein on the blood glucose concentrations in either age group. The main effect of age (P = 0.005) was significant; the protein (P = 0.42) and age × protein interaction (P = 0.54) effects were not significant.
