These cytokines (particularly IL-36γ) display broad anti- and pro-tumorigenic roles across a variety of malignancies. The anti-tumorigenic functions involve enhancing the suppressive activity of the immune system. In contrast, the pro-tumorigenic functions promote immune evasion and cell proliferation.
