One carbon metabolism. One carbon metabolism mainly contains the folate cycle and the methionine cycle. SAM provides methyl for methylation, then it is recycled by the methionine cycle. Folate drives the folate cycle to mediate transfer of one carbon unit and purine de novo synthesis.
