Multi-stage tumorigenesis and progression of lung cancer. The progression of lung cancer is a multifaceted biological process including various stages and steps. During the progression, epithelial cells acquire stemness and undergo metabolic reprogramming. Concurrently, there is a progressive increase in exhausted T cells and SPP1-macrophages. Furthermore, our findings indicate that the multidimensional communication between lung stem cells and immune cells plays a crucial role in sustaining cellular stemness and facilitating tumor immune evasion, thereby promoting the development of lung cancer.
