On average, after DCM surgery, nerve root injuries were reported in about 6%, worsening or progression of myelopathy or spinal cord injury 3%, limb paralysis or weakness 10%, laryngeal nerve palsy 4.5%, dysphagia 9.28%, and infection 6.42%. These operations had additional minor operative and hardware complications. Overall, 8.9%-30.6% of patients suffered from at least one complication of surgery. The risk values are those in the references, or calculated using their data.
