From: Genomic structural equation modeling reveals latent phenotypes in the human cortex with distinct genetic architecture

Genomic structural equation modeling (gSEM) jointly modeled the genetic architecture of (A) cortical surface area (SA), and (B) cortical thickness, for 34 brain regions based on GWAS results of Grasby et al. [18]. The model generated 6 genetically informed brain networks (GIBNs) from SA phenotype measures. The color overlay on cortical regions represents the magnitude of the factor loadings indicated in the color gradient (yellow = high; blue = low). Subsequent GWAS identified several genome-wide significant hits (p < 5 × 10−8) associated with each GIBN.
