If we cast our minds back to the days after lockdown, the NHS proved more restrictive, and private dentistry more flexible. But the real driver was not just what private dentists did, but the attitude of the patients, which was in some ways surprising. Having been denied dental services for a time, they now demanded it, whether through need or want. They found it in those independent practices who appeared to have a much more open door policy, more able to make their offering flexible.
