Major expansion works have been completed at a long-established Glasgow dental clinic in a bid to meet the rising demand for dental services in the area.

Cardonald Dental Clinic reopened its doors on 8 November, following an investment of £400,000 by sector leader, Scottish Dental Care. Employing 10 team members, the clinic is all set to welcome a further 500 NHS patients from surrounding areas including Paisley, Renfrew and Ralston, adding to its active register of 4,000 - a 10% increase.

The practice has expanded its footprint by 55sq metres, added two new surgeries, as well as recruiting two new dentists and a hygienist. Additionally, the clinic will be introducing a new affordable dental plan, to offer both those struggling to find dental services, as well as existing patients.

Lead Clinician, Neil Scott, has welcomed the investment, and hopes the practice will be able to support more families in and around Glasgow. Neil said: ‘I am delighted with the standard of work that has been undertaken as part of this major refurbishment. Our team values the relationships they have with the patients, and the community, so to be able to expand our services to meet the demand is very exciting.

‘Cardonald Dental Clinic has been a key part of the community for more than 25 years, and we're delighted to be able to provide excellent services for years to come.'

Established in the early nineties, Cardonald Dental Clinic became part of the growing family-led dental group, Scottish Dental Care, in 2017. The works include two brand new state of the art surgeries as well as a new staff area and new heating system and roof.

Tasked with the refurbishments was Glasgow architects, NVDC and contractor, Interact Interiors. The local duo completed the facelift in just three months - with minimal disruption to the surrounding businesses. Richard Welsh, Managing Director at Interact Interiors said: ‘Working on this project has been extremely rewarding. Connecting with the community and working with an important local business has been fantastic. ‘We're proud of what we have achieved on this project, and we're grateful to Scottish Dental Care for working with local businesses like us.'

The expansion of the Cardonald branch is part of Scottish Dental Care's commitment to providing high-quality dental care to patients across Scotland. Lynn Hood, Chief Executive of Scottish Dental Care, said: ‘Keeping dentistry local and investing in community clinics like Cardonald is important to us, and forms a key part of our growth strategy. We're committed to ensuring our patients have access to high-quality dental care.'

Scottish Dental Care operates 20 practices in Scotland consisting of 80 dentists, employing more than 200 team members, and serving around 200,000 patients.
