As the NHS year-end approaches, dental practices across England and Wales must brace themselves for the final quarter. Proper preparation can ensure a smooth transition into the new financial year. Here's how your practice can get ready for this critical period.
The NHS year-end for dental practices coincides with the end of the financial year, which is 31 March. To prepare make sure your team is aware of the submission timing for NHS claims. Whilst incomplete courses of treatment are not subject to the two-month rule all other claims are subject to this rule. Therefore:
-
Ensure all patient claims are submitted within two months of the date of completion. Submitting claims more promptly allows any errors with submission and processing to rectified without an impact on your final year end position
-
Where you have carried over activity to perform from the previous year underperformance ensure this has been removed from your inhouse calculations and you have an accurate view of your current practice performance.
