When you need to get someone new for your practice team, there are three steps you need to take: advertising, shortlisting and interviewing. To get the right person it is better to prepare each step carefully.

The first of these is the job listing. The advert that you place when looking for a new employee is crucial to getting the right person. You want to reach the right people, tell them why they should join your team and how to get in touch, as shown in Box 1. A badly-worded advertisement could lead to a waste of time and money processing applications from entirely unsuitable candidates and might also expose the practice to the risk of an unlawful discrimination claim.
