In this series Glesni Hitchens discusses some of the additional skills that can be gained working in a OMFS DCT post.

Management of soft tissue wounds is a core skill for an OMFS DCT. A skill we quickly have to develop and use on a daily basis. A clear understanding of trauma biomechanics, patterns of injury, surgical anatomy and surgical technique is important. The DCT role can, at times, be very challenging but you can gain a great deal of confidence and professional satisfaction from this area of your training.
