More than meets the eye

As avid followers of BDJ Student, you'll be well aware of the professional development, careers insight and clinical tips we offer. In fact, last year, BDJ Student alone offered more than 100 articles to get your teeth into (terrible pun, don't @ me).

But, did you know that BDJ Student is one of six titles within the BDJ portfolio? There's the BDJ - a world-leading title and if you haven't heard of that then you're probably in the wrong profession! There's BDJ In Practice, which offers updates on developments in the profession, regulatory advice, blue-sky thinking and horizon-scanning contributions from a wide range of authors. We also have BDJ Team, produced specifically for, and with, the dental team in mind. There you'll find what hygienists, therapists, dental nurses and other members of the team think about dentistry and beyond.

We know that everything you do has to be evidence-based, and so our Evidence Based Dentistry title is exactly what you need to keep abreast of the most up-to-date evidence available to inform your decision-making as your career advances. And finally, last but certainly not least, our open access title, BDJ Open, an international, peer-reviewed open access journal publishing primary research from all oral health disciplines from across the globe. You may not be overly familiar with open access publishing now, but it's where publishing is going, so be sure to check it out.

So what does all this mean to you? Well, first of all there's a good chance there's nothing you won't find within our portfolio. Secondly, we know how much you, our members, value the portfolio. We're always looking for new and innovative ways to keep you updated on everything that's happening in the profession you're readying to enter. Finally, much of our success is down to the authors and prospective authors among you. You don't need to look much further than my colleague, Jonathan Lewney, who works across BDJ Open, for once upon a time, Jonathan was editor of Launchpad - what you now affectionately refer to as BDJ Student!
