This Comment explores the findings of a systematic review which aimed to assess the effectiveness of VR in reducing both anxiety and pain in dental patients, comparing VR interventions with non-VR methods. While VR shows promising potential and could be a very valuable tool in dental care, the authors emphasise that ‘a standardised VR protocol for both children and adults should be developed to ensure its consistent application across different dental practices', and that further research is required to expand upon these findings and strengthen the evidence supporting the use of VR in dentistry.
