The multivariable-adjusted Cox-regression analysis was adjusted for age, sex, population origin, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, glucocorticoid use, CRP level, and education. The NLR 1–1.9 with 0 CCI was used as a reference level in the Cox regression analysis. Using the likelihood ratio test, we tested for interaction between NLR and the CCI score on mortality by comorbidity burden. Only natural causes of death were included (N = 191,676).
