a THP-1 cells were pre-treated with LPS (10 ng/ml) for 2 h prior to exposure to 5 μM of proteasome inhibitors (MG-132, bortezomib and carfilzomib). Supernatants were collected 1, 8 and 24 h after proteasome inhibition and assayed for IL-1β secretion. b Peripheral blood-derived human macrophages and monocytes were stimulated as in a and assayed for IL-1β secretion after 24 h. c THP-1 and d U937 cells were pre-treated with 10 ng/ml LPS for 2 h prior to proteasome inhibitor treatment.
