CML cells with impaired expression of MPL cannot respond to differentiation signals (left), whereas allogeneic MSCs promoted leukemic cell differentiation via restoring damaged MPL signaling (right). MSCs secreted TPO to activate JAK2/STAT3 and p38 MAPK pathways, which may, in turn, increased MPL expression. El promoted higher phosphorylation of both JAK2/STAT3 and p38 MAPK.
