Upper panel: FOXM1 inhibits BMF expression and anoikis induction during prolonged mitosis. A FOXM1-binding cis-regulatory element (CRE) in BMF is an enhancer of the BUB1B neighbor mitotic gene. Lower panel: FOXM1 inhibition increases DiM in response to antimitotic drugs in anoikis-sensitive cells (high BMF). FOXM1-independent BMF repression (low BMF) correlates with resistance to antimitotic chemotherapy.
