TG2 translocates into the nucleus promoting IRF3 crosslinking during cell death induced by doxorubicin. The resulting IRF3 dimerization leads to a inactive IRF3 dimers. The absence or the enzymatic inhibition of TG2 leads to increased free no-crosslinked IRF3 proteins in the nucleus able to enhance the IFNI production.
