From: In vitro expansion of pancreatic islet clusters facilitated by hormones and chemicals

Schematic depicting the isolation, seeding and the expansion of primary islet cell clusters. After the islets were isolated from pregnant mice or wild-type rats, the islets were digested into appropriate cell clusters by incubation with the Dispase II. The digestion time were optimised and the mechanical blow force was used for cluster generation. These clusters were cultured 3D in PIEM to achieve the in vitro expansion of the islet cell clusters.
