MdSDH sorbitol dehydrogenase, MdCWINV cell wall invertase, MdNINV neutral invertase, MdSUSY sucrose synthase, MdFK fructokinase, MdHK hexokinase, MdSPS sucrose phosphate synthase. Quantitative RT-PCR was performed with gene-specific primers except that a pair of universal primers was designed from the conserved cDNA region of MdSDH2 to MdSDH9. For each sample, transcript levels were normalized with those of Actin, and the relative expression level for each gene was obtained via the ddCT method. Expression in 40-DAB fruit was designated as “10”. Values are means of three replicates ± SD. An asterisk indicates a significant difference between transgenic lines (A27 or A04) and CK at P < 0.05 by Tukey’s test after analysis of variance
