Comparison of the relative importance of bright and dark excitons. The density of bright excitons that fulfill energy and momentum conservation in radiative recombination processes, the dark exciton density due to intra-valley excitations in the vicinity of K and K’, as well as the total exciton density vs. excitation density are shown for a MoS2 and b WSe2 on SiO2 substrate at T = 300 K
