Field-scale carbon dioxide flux, precipitation and groundwater rise. Field measurements of a mean daily CO₂ flux (μmol m⁻² s⁻¹) respiration (bars represent standard error of n = 8 plots), and weather tower reports at Walker Ranch Weather Station at the Disney Wilderness Preserve (FL) of b total precipitation (mm) and c mean groundwater level (m) for 24 h prior to CO₂ measurements. Using a residual maximum likelihood mixed effects model, CO₂ emissions were influenced by precipitation (P = 0.040) and by the interaction of precipitation and groundwater elevation (P = 0.005).
