Spatiotemporal model for the coordination of mitotic entry. At the G2/M transition, activated Polo translocates to the nucleus and phosphorylates Cdc25. Cdc25 starts to relocalize to the cytoplasm during prophase where it begins to activate Cdk1 (1). In the nucleus, Cyclin B-Cdk1 reinforces Polo-dependent relocalization of Cdc25 (2). This positive feedback mechanism accelerates the generation of fully active Cyclin B-Cdk1 (3) allowing chromosome condensation and lamina disassembly at mitotic entry
