Stationary distribution of the recombination rates between two co-modulated target loci. We assume that the initial target locus starts at the optimal distance to the plasticity modifier loci and a new target locus is introduced downstream away from the plasticity modifier-target haplotype. N = 25,000 and C = 10 with s max = 0.5 (a), C = 20 with s max = 0.25 (b), C = 40 and 80 with s max = 0.15 (c, d) for each of the target loci (broken line indicates s max/2), with  = 0.1. One thousand replicate simulations were run for a 100 N burn-in generations (where the distribution stabilized) and the stationary distribution was recorded over the next 100 N generations (to a 2 decimal place precision). The tick marks y axes in top panels indicate height of y axes in bottom panels
