These methods generally strongly correlate with Fiebig stage, though occasional deviations still happen, especially when under strong selection. In our present dataset, CH1244 is one such exception, with a Fiebig stage IV yet diversity that would be expected—under a model of random accumulation of mutation—to be roughly 2 weeks into the infection
