Design of transplantation experiment. Back-transplantation and cross-transplantation of coral fragments from Acropora hemprichii and Pocillopora verrucosa across sites of differing environmental impact close to the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah in the Red Sea to test for microbiome flexibility. Three coral colonies of each species at each site were collected and fragmented into five fragments each per colony to allow for reciprocal transplantation across all sites.
