Differential expression analyses suggest homogeneity among Anolis digits. Histograms show the distribution of p values from differential expression analyses of adjacent digits. In Anolis, p value distributions that are close to uniform, indicating very weak genetic differentiation of adjacent fingers. Mouse and alligator, on the other hand, generally show strongly biased p value distributions. The number of genes that are identified as differentially expressed at an FDR threshold of 0.05 are noted in each panel as “genes,” and the number of transcription factors among these are noted in each panel as “TF.”
