PvDBP mRNAs were normalized against the schizont-specific PvMSP1 gene. mRNA level is on average higher in parasites with two (n = 13) and three (n = 27) copies of pvdbp compared to single copy (n = 44) ones (Kruskal-Wallis H = 12.39, P = 0.020, Dunn’s post-hoc tests, *P < 0.05, **P < 0.001). Each dot represents the pvdbp mRNA quantification of a different clinical isolate. Mean ± SEM. Source data are provided as a Source Data file.
