The dye-filled microcavity is composed of one planar (1) and one spherical (2) mirror. The pulsed pump (green) is transmitted through the cavity at an angle of ~52°. The transverse ground-state mode (yellow) leaks through one of the mirrors and is directed both into a spectrometer and a pair of single-photon detectors, B1 and B2, in a Hanbury Brown–Twiss arrangement. A second pair of detectors, O1 and O2, is used to time the beginning of the experiment.
