a Perspective view with labels indicating key features discussed in the text, including Cerealia Facula, the central pit, Cerealia Tholus and Pasola Facula. The base mosaic is the ~10 m/pixel XM2 clear filter mosaic and is referenced to the LAMO DTM59. There is no vertical exaggeration. b Relationship between bright material and topographic lows, made using our classified version of the ~10 m/pixel XM2 clear filter mosaic. The yellow classified material approximately corresponds to the continuous bright material, the orange to the discontinuous bright material and the white to other, non-bright materials. The contours (black lines) are spaced at 100 m, and are based on the LAMO DTM. The center coordinates of both views are 19° 37′ N and 120° 24′ W.
