Reaction conditions: 1) tertiary lactam (0.25 mmol), 1,1-diborylalkane (0.375 mmol), MeLi (0.375 mmol), anisole (2.0 mL), 0 °C, 5 min then 120 °C, 2 h; 2) NaBH4 (0.75 mmol), MeOH (1.0 mL), rt for 1 h. Yields based on isolated products. aThe d.r. value was determined by 1H NMR analysis. PMP: p-methoxyphenyl; Bn: benzyl.
