Red and magenta curves are guides to the eye. Literature data for Fe at comparable high PT conditions from ref. 20 are plotted for comparison. Our results are representative of measurements with different laser powers, each corresponding to an averaging of usually 100 laser heating events using a streak camera20,32. The measurement uncertainties are typically ≈15–30%. Effects of temperature on the thermal conductivity of Fe0.85Si0.15 alloy are shown in Supplementary Fig. 4. Pressure–temperature conditions for each measurement are listed in Supplementary Tables 1–3.
