During infection, M. oryzae secretes the endoglucanase MoCel12A and MoCel12B, which target rice cell wall hemicellulose for degradation. However, the oligosaccharides produced by MoCel12A and MoCel12B are perceived by immune protein complex OsCERK1-OsCEBiP, which transduces the signal to downstream OsRac1 for immune activation.
