Sample pairs offset from the 1 : 1 grey line (i.e., yellow circles and grey triangles) indicate disequilibrium due to higher 14C apparent erosion rate relative to 10Be—a signal we attribute to erosional transience. The 26Al apparent erosion rate of sample 09 is considered an outlier (see ‘Methods’). Error bars indicate ±1σ.
