We plot the power spectral density of data taken from34 (blue circles) alongside that of a fitted Lotka-Volterra random ecosystem model (solid line). Fitted parameters are b = 0.6643, cσ2 = 0.1316, γ = 0.8078, data averaged over n = 3 samples per day. Also shown is the best fit under the restriction γ < 0 (dashed line). The lower right panel shows the spectral boundary inferred from the fit (black ellipse), along with the eigenvalues of a sample random community matrix for illustration.
